Ray's rare nine dart finish

THE rare feat of a nine-dart finish has been achieved by a member of Pebsham Darts Club.

Adrian Gray pulled off the quickest possible 501 leg in helping Pebsham A to victory over Pebsham B in Division One of the Beer Seller Cardwell Darts League.

The Professional Darts Corporation world number 41, who has beaten former World Champion John Part, slotted a pair of maximum 180s before checking out on 141.

"It was very good," said the 24-year-old, who had never before pulled off darts' equivalent to a 147 break or a hole-in-one in practice or competition. "I was pretty excited. I've hit 180, 180 before and missed the seventh or eighth dart, but this time it just happened to go straight in and the place erupted. I wouldn't have said I was nervous because, when I hit the seventh and eighth darts, I thought 'this is my chance to miss the ninth'."

Gray's heroics led to Pebsham's fourth victory out of four to keep them leading the top flight.
