Rob banks £3,000 but tour hit by rain again

ROB Perrett led from start to finish at Wildwood Golf Club at Alfold, near Horsham, to claim the sixth event of the Jamega Pro Golf Tour by two shots.

Torrential rain led to only nine holes being completed on the second day of the 36-hole event, held on June 2 and 3.

This meant that for the second week running, and for the fourth time this season, a tournament has been badly affected by the weather.

Perrett, from Clevedon Golf Club in north Somerset, followed his magnificent opening six-under-par round of 65 with a two-under-par 34 to complete the 27 holes in a total of 99 and claim the first prize of 3,000.

Hampshire's Jon Le Roux, who shared the clubhouse lead with Perrett after matching his opening 65, finished in outright second place to win 1,600.

West Surrey's Ben Banks finished a shot further adrift at five under, earning 1,100 for his work, while a host of players finished on four under, including Steve Surry, the winner from The Warwickshire event last month.

Surry's latest good finish sees him stay comfortably top of the Jamega Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit, the winner of which will have his entry fee to the European Tour School provided by ISM, the golf management company behind Ernie Els and Lee Westwood.

Aside from the good scoring on the opening day, the highlight was undoubtedly 2007 Order of Merit winner Martin Sell's hole in one on the short 8th, earning him 100.
