Rogers collects another medal at 41

FROM Sheffield United, Wigan Athletic and Wembley to Pease Pottage Village.

Paul Rogers extended his footballing career back into the grassroots when he appeared in the Sussex Intermediate Cup Final at Culver Road at the age of 41.

The former Albion skipper with two championships under his captaincy, now coach at Worthing Football Club, where he has made five starts this season, turned out twice in the Intermediate Cup for his former Brighton colleague Bob Booker who is coaching at Sussex County League third division runners-up Pottage.

The first was in the semi-final where he helped Pottage defeat favourites Rustington, the subsequent Division 3 champions 6-3.

Now Rogers has an Sussex Intermediate Cup winners medal after Pottage beat Uckfield Town 3-1 after extra-time in the final.

This will go beside his two League Championship medals with Albion and a 1999 AutoWindscreens Shield winner's medal at Wembley with Wigan Athletic, where he hit the only goal of the game.
