Worthing Rowing Club's Leah Colclough clinched a memorable double last weekend.

Colclough, who remains unbeaten in the ladies’ single sculls competition, secured another two race wins in successive days in the Coast Amateur Rowing Association championship.

First, she came out on top in the Shoreham Regatta, before securing the same feat at Brighton & Hove’s showpiece just 24 hours later.

It was far from plain sailing in Brighton’s event, though, as strong winds forced Colclough to miss a turn which temporarily pushed her into second.

The Worthing talent recovered before storming past a rower from Dover with 100 metres of racing left, to seal back-to-back single scull race wins in the space of two days.

There was more success for Worthing’s talented team line-up as their novice men’s crew of Chris Whinnett, Sam Botting, Dima Parfoot and Sean Thomson came third in Shoreham’s regatta.

A slight change saw Zoltan Hercz replace Thomson as they finished one place higher at Brighton a day later.

Despite being a man light for the weekend, Worthing’s J16 boys’ quad team claimed third-placed finishes in both regattas.

Lucy Reynard made the step up into the quads team and helped them achieve podium places.

Worthing’s novice ladies’ team have reformed following Oonagh MacOscar’s departure to Singapore. On their race return, the team scored a Worthing regatta win with new recruit Vanda Ball slotting into the team nicely.

The novice team now need one more win to ensure they move up a status.

Worthing’s senior ladies’ team also fielded a team in both regattas. They struggled over the two days, though, and were not able to gain a placing in either race.

Worthing return to action later this month when they will be competing in Folkestone’s Regatta.
