RUGBY: Raiders thrash Bridgwater

WORTHING Raiders Rugby Club cruised to a 69-5 win over Bridgwater & Albion in National 2 South on Saturday (March 27).

Worthing touched down 10 tries in their biggest win of the season. They were ahead after just 66 seconds when Joe Govett went over for his 10th try of the season.

Matt McLean was off target with the conversion but Raiders were 12-0 ahead inside five minutes after Greg Sullivan touched down and McLean kicked the extra two points.

McLean added a penalty on 21 minutes before Peter Cleveland got Raiders' third try of the game on just 23 minutes and McLean added the extras to make it 22-0.

Jack Childs got Bridgwater on scoresheet with a try on 32 minutes but Jack Kohler hit the conversion wide.

Jack Metters, within 30 seconds of coming on as a substitute for the injured Andy Rogers, got Worthing's fourth try and the bonus point on 45 minutes.

Chris Meddings, after a quick one-two pass with Jamie Redmayne, made it 34-5 on 53 minutes and McLean again kicked the conversion.

Raiders then ran riot in the last 12 minutes and Will Smith, with his first try for the first team, Cleveland, McLean, Govett and Sullivan all went over, with McLean converting four of them.
