All Blacks stopped by Aylesford Bulls’ incredible defence

With a very large pack and a pacy backline the Bulls look like a contender for promotion this season. The Bulls started at a canter playing down the slope and quickly notched up 3 converted scores with the pick of the bunch a cross field kick pass which the winger collected at full tilt.

The men in black then came alive and began to use their pack and centres to gain good ground. Following a penalty by the Bulls, Hill kicked for the corner. At the lineout, back rower Adam Rez took the ball and a driving maul ensued.

The maul was pushed on and over the line for fellow back rower Tim Daniel to score. Fly half Rhys Clarke in his first game back following injury narrowly missed the conversion from wide out, 5 -21.

The Bulls ended the half with a gift of a converted try following a knock on by Hill in their 22 to end the half 5-28.

The second half started very badly with 2 very soft tries for the Bulls one of which was converted, 5-40. At this point the All Blacks brought on Mike Jennings at centre and Darren Coulton at second row which had an immediate impact.

Coulton made the scrum his own and the black pack were now winning good ball and disrupting all of the Bulls scrum ball. Jennings was equally felling the Bulls runners and making yards with the ball in hand.

It was all Hill now and they pressed for 30 minutes pounding the Bulls line. The Bulls defence was incredible stopping wave after wave of attack. Eventually the men in black got the score they deserved where winger Pete Blenkharn cantered over in the corner. Clarke added the extras with 8 to go.

The All Blacks continued to press for the try bonus point however they could not break down the Bulls resolute defence.

The All Blacks are next in action away to Pulborough in 2 weeks. With another handful of players back available they are hoping to kick their disappointing season back into action.
