The evening was hosted by former Wasps player Peter Scrivener and World Cup winner Simon Shaw. Both were in excellent form and spent a good part of the evening speaking to the Bognor club members.

Shaw presented the end-of-season awards. Former first XV captain Lee Balchin picked up the player of the year trophy while club stalwart Richard Myhill took home the clubman of the year prize.

Second XV player of the year was Seve Perez and Chris Pigden was awarded the third XV player of the year.

There were further awards for Josh Burgess (most consistent), Darren Bidwell (Colt of the year) and Chris Webb (most improved).

For the 1st XV the long season is not over yet.

This Saturday they head to Horsham RFC to take on Lewes in the final of the Sussex Vase.

They beat Hastings and Bexhill 33-27 in the quarter-final at the end of April then got a bye to the final when Haywards Heath withdrew from the semi-final, which was planned for last weekend.
