Bognor Rugby Club honour some of their stalwarts

Bognor Rugby Club's annual dinner-dance was a huge success.

It was a sell-out with all sections of the club represented – minis, youth, seniors and veterans.

Bognor Golf Club proved an excellent venue where the food was of the highest order and a wonderful atmosphere was in evidence.

The occasion was a chance to celebrate some fantastic achievements of four very loyal members who have led numerous activities for the benefit of club members.

Mo Millen has organised some outstanding events and as awarded an Eve Award – the club’s equivalent of an Oscar.

The club are still looking forward to some of the events. After the Olympic torch has passed their home in Hampshire Avenue on Monday week, there will be a festival of sports, where many clubs from the town will demonstrate their activities and encourage spectators to get involved.

At the beginning of the rugby season, there will be a commemorative match at Barrack Lane to celebrate the formation of the club 90 years ago.

Another wonderful lady to be recognised was Steph Nightingale, a very industrious member. She lends a hand wherever it is needed anywhere in the club and was an excellent choice for an Eve Award. Her important responsibility is fixtures and membership.

Andy Sweeney has retired as chairman of the club after five very challenging years. He has been outstanding as chairman and has been very well supported by his wife Andrea. She was presented with a bouquet of flowers and Andy received an engraved decanter.
