Chichester under-16s storm to Hellstorm win

Chichester '˜s under-16 B rugby lads achieved another impressive bonus-point win - 55-19 at Hellstorm - to cement second place in the league table.

They ran in nine tries in spectacular fashion, thrilling the home crowd in the Oaklands Park sunshine.

Following an extended lay-off because of the weather, Chichester were focused on getting a good start – and got just that with an early try for left-wing Lock following a powerful run and offload from Furness.

Hellstorm exerted pressure in the Chichester 22 and the home team had to defend stoutly with the tough tackling centre combination of Clink and Rice to the fore. Moving the ball quickly left from close to their own line Chichester again released the flying Lock, who sprinted down the wing for 60 yards scoring under the posts.

A superb individual effort from fly-half Stanley and a trademark bullocking run from Furness secured the bonus point with four tries before half-time.

By the start of the second half, the Chichester forwards were starting to dominate the heavier Hellstorm pack, with Inness successfully striking against the head.

Sprackling, Cox and Rahman were a menace in the loose and quick hands in the backs released speedster Lock for three second-half tries.

There was still time for Stoner’s party piece, smashing opponents out of his way as he ran in from 30 yards. Not to be outdone, Stanley took a tap from his own 22, sidestepping half of the Hellstorm team before scoring another try.

With two league games to go Chichester remain hard on the heels of leaders Hove with a two-point deficit to claw back.
