England's under-20 rugby team ... made in Chichester

England's team in rugby's under-20 Six Nations championship is '˜made in Chichester'.

The two second row forwards for the first game of the tournament – a 26-20 win in Wales at the weekend – are Chichester boys.

Kieran Low and Charlie Matthews first played together in the Chichester RFC under-ten minis and continued through the age groups together up to the colts level.

Both were selected for England under-18 and England under-19 teams but never actually played together. Now the two 6ft 7in locks have teamed up to form the second row – often referred to as the engine room of the scrum – and both played the full 80 minutes in Llanelli.

The under-20s are the last stepping stone before the full England first XV and England Saxons XV. The next game is tomorrow (Feb 11) against Italy at Bath. Other games are against France (February 27), Scotland (March 11) and Ireland (March 18).
