Bright colours and wacky costumes were the order of the day at Cranleigh Rugby Club on Saturday - all in the name of fun and for a very good cause.

The second ‘Fat Boys’ 7-a-side rugby tournament saw extra points awarded for fancy dress and those who took part raised more than £2,500 for Help For Heroes.

The Cranleigh ‘Barbies’ win the cup, with Dorking finishing runners-up. In the Plate final Dragons Destroyers triumphed over Holbrook.

It was the second year the fun event has been run and in total more than £5,000 has been raised for the charity.

The event was sponsored by the Bourne Group and organised by employee and Cranleigh Rugby Club member Toby Eves, who said: “We are extremely grateful for the kind sponsorship provided by the Bourne Group, who already support a number of other charities, including the Royal Fusiliers.

“The day was great fun and a considerable amount was raised for an extremely important charity doing vital good work in supporting our injured servicemen and their families. Bourne Group has close working connections with the military so this is a particularly appropriate sponsorship for us as a group of companies.”
