Rocks Review: Prior scores on Newcastle debut

ROCKS striker Jason Prior had a dream start to what he hopes will be a long stay on Tyneside when he scored on his Newcastle United debut in front of Alan Pardew.

His goal came in the reserves’ 3-1 win against Wigan.

The Magpies took the lead in injury time in the first half when Dan Gosling’s corner was converted by Remie Streete.

Wigan equalised through Jordan Rugg but Newcastle regained the lead through sub Brad Inman with 17 minutes left.

Prior’s big moment came four minutes later when a powerful right-footed shot from ten yards found the top corner.

Overall Prior performed well but the triallist - who arrived in the north-east last Thursday - must wait to see what feedback he recieves from Pardew and his backroom team, reports the Newcastle Chronicle.

Prior has scored 95 goals in just over two years for the Rocks and was set to join Eastleigh for £12,500 before the Magpies offered a trial.
