VIDEO: Worthing Raiders v Blaydon

WORTHING Raiders Rugby Club’s hopes of survival in National 1 took a hammer blow with a 32-24 home defeat to Blaydon on Saturday.

A late Matt McLean try gave Raiders a losing bonus point for their afternoon’s endeavour, but majority of the results involving the other sides in the relegation scrap went against them.

Loughborough Students won 22-19 over Richmond to move six points clear of the bottom three and eight clear of second-from-bottom Raiders.

Henley Hawks are two points ahead of Raiders after they lost 44-22 at Fylde, while Cinderford, who have two games in hand, sit fourth from bottom, out of the relegation places, after they drew 24-24 at Tynedale.

Raiders must now rely on other results as well as winning their remaining two games to stand any chance of avoiding an immediate return to National 2 South.
