The courses will follow a route through the lanes of Barns Green, Itchingfield, Christ’s Hospital and close to Southwater through some of the most scenic countryside in West Sussex.

The new 10k distance has been introduced to attract new athletes to the already hugely-popular event.

While, for the first-ever time the half marathon event will have pacers provided by local club Horsham Joggers.

Spectators are advised to arrive at the start/finish at Barns Green Village Hall no later than 9am, with the races starting at 10am and 10.20am respectively.

Race director Vernon Jennings said: “We are delighted to be adding a new 10k race to our event. Many runners don’t feel confident about running a half marathon so the introduction of the 10k race will give an opportunity for more runners to take part in our very special event.

“We are also delighted to have St Catherine’s Hospice as our official charity this year as it provides a unique and essential service for our region.”

Last year almost 1,500 runners registered for the race with nearly £10,000 raised for various charities as well as groups, youth and sports clubs in and around the village who help with the staging of the race.

There will be plenty of entertainment on the day with a jazz band at the start/finish and four others along the route, children’s fun fair, stalls and food.

Entries can be made on the day, but places in the 10k are extremely limited. For more information visit www.barnsgreen-half.org.uk
