RUSTINGTON WANT MORE CUP SUCCESS

RUSTINGTON manager Gareth Davies has a fully-fit squad to choose from for Tuesday's Vernon-Wentworth Cup final against Newhaven.

It is his team's second cup final of the season after they won the Division 3 cup 3-1 against Uckfield on Good Friday.

With the excellent cup runs '” unbeaten in 14 cup games this season '” the league form has obviously been damaged.

Davies said: "The league form has undoubtedly been affected by our cup successes. Having played so many games in a short space of time has affected us and maybe taken some of the concentration away from our league form.

"Although saying that, we have dropped too many silly points away and ultimately that's why we are not in a higher position.

"To win all three cup finals would mean everything to this club. One cup final was a massive achievement, let alone three.

"The Sussex Intermediate Cup final is the one we all want to win. At our level it is the biggest competition of the lot.

"The players should be proud of their achievements already. Some clubs wait years to get in to a big cup final and this year we have been fortunate to have three to look forward to.

"Whatever the results in the next two finals, I'm proud of all my players."

Rustington held Division 3 champions Storrington to a scoreless draw on Tuesday night.

Rustington's Sean Duffy smashed Terry Withers' cross against a bar, before Withers shot just wide towards the end.
