Rutherford quits as joint Mussels boss

JASON RUTHERFORD has quit from his role as joint-manager of Shoreham Football Club which leaves Fred Proto in sole charge of the first-team at Middle Road.

Rutherford, who was going to step down at the end of the season, decided to bring his decision forward. He said: "I've decided to pack it in because I just got a bit disillusioned with it all.

"I've not been around for the last couple of weeks anyway. I wasn't doing a lot and couldn't see myself improving things.

"I'd already told Roger Brace I was going to leave at the end of the season but that decision became a bit more difficult when Sammy Donnelly came in.

"I just wasn't enjoying it and was getting more and more wound up because I couldn't improve things. People didn't want to train or they wouldn't turn up. No one seemed interested.

"I didn't get paid at Shoreham so I just thought what's the point in carrying on if I'm not enjoying it?

"I'll just have a rest now and see what happens. I've had a few phone calls already but I'm just going to spend some time at home and watch the odd match."
