Shoreham grab vital win

SHOREHAM Football Club did their survival hopes a power of good with 3-0 victory at second-bottom Rye on Saturday.

Mussels had to deal with aerial pressure in the first 20 minutes but held firm and never looked back once substitute Tom Smith gave them a 30th-minute lead. Smith replaced Shaheen Sadough, who went off with an ankle injury, and he put Mussels in front after a smart turn on the edge of the area.

Shoreham doubled their lead five minutes after half-time. Smith played the ball wide to Rob Boddy, whose cross was kneed home by Owen Callaghan for his 13th goal of the season.

The win was sealed with 10 minutes left when Darren Annis broke clear to score.
