Sidley reject rivals' bid for midfielder

SIDLEY United have turned down a seven-day approach from Bexhill United for Mark Funnell.

The midfielder played for the former Bexhill Athletic side before moving to Gullivers and still turns out for United's Hastings & East Sussex Sunday League side along with team-mate Wes Tate.

But according to joint manager Andy Laskey he will definitely not be making the cross-town switch even though he's been unable to commit himself to training recently for personal reasons which has kept him out of the side.

United entertain neighbours St Leonards tomorrow (Saturday), kick-off 3pm, before visiting Redhill on Tuesday evening.

Mark Freeman (back) and Lee Wood (leg) are unlikely to be fit to play.
