Spot-on Day lifts Sidley

TWO first-half penalties from Adam Day gave Sidley United a 2-1 away victory against nine man Selsey in the Sussex First Division on Saturday.

In a match which had 13 bookings and two sendings off, The Blues took the lead in the 28th minute when Paul Balch was brought down in the penalty area and Day stepped up to convert from the spot.

Sidley were awarded a second penalty just before half time after Kevin Rose was felled and once again Day made no mistake from 12 yards.

The home team rallied in the second half and halved the arrears on 63 minutes through Barry Rishman, but stout defending saw Sidley hang on for victory.
