STAR STRIKER SORELY MISSED

SIDLEY United joint-manager Glen Sully says his side are missing last season's top scorer Peter Baker 'more than any other former player'.

Baker hit the net 30 times for United last season before moving to Dr Martens team St Leonards in the summer and Sully thinks his team are now feeling the effects of his absence.

"At the beginning of the season we thought we would struggle without Peter Baker's goals, but we didn't. It's only now when we have been really feeling it as scoring has been a problem lately.

"But it is not just his goals we miss, it's also his all round play and I think we have missed Peter more than any other former player.

"He is still signed up to the club and he knows that if things don't work out for him at St Leonards then he is always welcome back."

Sidley take on rock bottom Littlehampton Town at Gullivers tomorrow (Saturday) and Sully says that if things do not improve soon there will be changes at the club and admits that he is on the trail of a forward to try and boost his side's firepower.

"We are lacking general quality in the final third of the field," he said. "That is not just the fault of the strikers because it includes the midfielders as well and we have also been letting in sloppy goals, so we also have to improve defensively.

"I have been looking at a forward and I am thinking of putting a seven day notice in for him, but it is too early to say at the moment."
