Brentford striker Neal Maupay has been the subject of interest from Premier League clubs

Brighton and Hove Albion are favourites to land Brentford striker Neal Maupay, according to the bookmakers.

Maupay, 22, has attracted strong interest from the likes of Aston Villa and Sheffield United following a terrific season in the Championship.

He was the Bees' talisman, averaging a goal every 149 minutes as he finished third top scorer in the division with 25 goals.

It is no surprise to see Maupay touted with a switch to the Premier League.

Reports earlier in the month had suggested the Blades were nearing a £15million deal for the Frenchman, while Villa were thought to be upping their efforts.

However, fresh speculation has claimed his price-tag is closer to £20m - and Brighton are placed as Maupay's likely destination, the bookies believe.

Following the departure of Anthony Knockaert to Fulham, Graham Potter has freed up space in his squad to bring further attacking options.

Another striker linked has been Oli McBurnie, who Potter knows all about having got the best out of him at Swansea City last season.

Sheff United are thought to be frontrunners, priced at 8/11, while the Seagulls are rated a 6/1 shot.
