Thornton and McCoy taste Fontwell success

A double for Andrew Thornton and a victory romp in the last for AP McCoy were among the highlights of Fontwell Park's latest midweek card.

Thornton rode Landsdowne Princess and Cleaver to victories at 15/2 and 4/1 respectively in the the second and fourth races of the afternoon.

Thornton also rode a second - Hardwick Wood in the third - and followed up with a third on board 16/1 shot Easter Fayre in the final race of the day, which was won comfrotably by champion jockey and BBC sports personality of the year McCoy, who brought home the favourite Barney Cool six lengths clear of Dark Shadow.

McCoy also had a second, with Straw Bear well beaten by Felix de Giles on Ostland in the fifth.

Fontwell’s next meeting is the big family race day on Sunday, May 29, followed by another midweek card on Wednesday, June 1.
