Top finishes for the Haywards Heath Harriers

As a busy September of racing kicks off, the Haywards Heath Harriers picked up a host of top finishes across the South.

In the John Faulds Hellingly 10k, the first of four Sussex Grand Prix races in successive weekends, the Harriers were the first placed men’s team with Peter Cobbett (54:17) winning his age group and Marion Hemsworth (51:59) second in her’s.

2015 was the 31st running of this popular Sussex 10k on undulating country lanes and the top four Harriers who made up the winning men’s team were Russ Mullen who finished sixth overall (35:30), Rob Watts who finished eighth (36:33), Any Guy (12th – 37:34) and Jack Chivers (17th – 38:48).

Full results: Graham Jenner 44:18, Mark Sykes 49:25, Matt Quinton 49:38, Klara Boarder 54:47, Natalie Chivers 55:57.

Also on Sunday, in the Firle Half Marathon which includes a climb to the top of the South Downs via Alfriston, Steve Dallman had a brilliant run to finish sixth overall and third in his age group with his time of 1:25:30. In the 5km fun run at the same event, Darja Knotkova-Hanley also had a stunning run to finish second, only just behind the winner, clocking 21:28.

In the Farnham Pilgrim Marathon, Julie Essex ran well in her time of 5:25.13 – her fifth of 12 full-marathons this year. Husband Mike was just behind her in 5:26:10.

In the Clair parkrun, Harrier George Adams was third in 19:47 as was Abigail Redd (22:31) amongst the ladies.
