A LATE double from Chris Jack ensured that relegated East Preston remained top of Division Two with a thrashing of Mile Oak on Saturday.

Having joined the game with just 14 minutes to go and the score 2-1, Jack netted twice in the final five minutes to give the scoreline a slightly lop-sided look.

First, following a long clearance, Matt Huckett sent him clear to fire under Oak keeper Gary Cullen from the edge of the box. Three minutes later, Jim Smith won a 50-50 ball and Jack raced through the defence to beat Cullen again.

Huckett had given EP the lead in first-half stoppage time, beating Cullen to the touch in a chase for a Terry Withers pass.

Oak were level five minutes after the break, when Anthony Whittington fed Jamie Harman and the nippy striker cut inside to fire low into the net.

The lead was re-established by Joe Cumber just a minute later, with a half-volley into the far top corner from a deep cross by Abe Beaney.
