Tornados make a storming start to the new campaign

LITTLEHAMPTON-based Tornados Wheelchair Basketball Club have made a strong start to their season with three wins from their opening four matches.

Tornados sit second in Division One South of the British League – three points behind leaders Essex Outlaws.

They began their season with a 63-58 defeat against Crusaders when Craig Wilson top-scored with 20 points.

Tornados bounced back in their next match as they defeated Aces 57-53, with 23 points from TJ Yates, 14 from Paul Brackley and 14 from Carl Scott.

A 52-47 victory over Blackhawks followed as Yates led the way with 34 points.

Tornados then enjoyed an excellent 77-34 away to Devon-based Otters when Scott sank 24 points, Yates 17 and Brackley 16.

Tornados coach Carl Scott said: “Our aim this season is to try to win the league as we were runners-up last season.

“We also want to continue with our undefeated home record which stands at over a year since our last defeat at home.”
