Town hit back again

FOR THE second time within a month, Steyning Town Football Club came back from two goals down to win at Mile Oak.

In November, Steyning defeated cup holders Oak 4-2, with 10 men, in the Division 2 Cup and on Saturday, they fought back from 2-0 down early in the second half to win with a last-minute goal and move above their hosts.

With the score at 2-2, Oak, down to 10 men after Ryan Sargent's 65th-minute red card, had a corner and an opportunity to grab a last-gasp winner. However, from the flag-kick, Steyning broke and from James Davis' cross, James Pargeter struck the clincher.

In a quiet opening, the first shot on goal did not come until five minutes before half-time. Steyning's Chris Duffett worked an opening for himself but Oak keeper Ashley Walker made a stunning save.

Moments later, Oak took the lead. Steyning keeper Dave Angell brilliantly pushed Clive Jackson's eight-yard volley wide. But, from the corner, Steve Porter was left unmarked to head home Jamie Ash's cross.
