Town hosts seafront relays
RUNNERS joined in the Bexhill centenary celebrations on Saturday at the Hastings Athletic Club Bexhill Seafront Relays.
Town mayor and mayoress Peter and Valery Fairhurst marked the occasion by presenting the medals to the successful senior ladies and men.
Local runners had mixed success, with the highlight of the day coming in the boys race when the Hastings AC team of Alex Ambridge (7.44), Adam Nichols (7.33) and Simon Baker (7.13) finished 2nd to Aldershot, just ahead of club-mates Sam Grain (7.55), Stefan Emary (8.60) and Lee Jules (7.22) who finished 3rd.
In the senior ladies race, Hastings AC veterans Jeanette Hardwick (7.57), Margaret Balch (9.24) and Katy Dixon (9.14) claimed the veterans prize after coming 5th overall.
