CHRIS Finn hit a hat-trick as Newick moved into the second round of the Sussex Intermediate Cup with a 4-3 win at Portslade Athletic. Matthew Cumming got the other.

Also through are Jarvis Brook after a 3-2 victory at St Francis Flyers. Luke Turner scored twice and Gary Wickens once.

Willingdon Athletic won 2-1 at Eastergate, Tony Wood and Russell Angell netting the goals, but Joseph Miller's brace was not enough for Maresfield Village as they lost 3-2 to Worthing Wanderers.

Lewes Bridge View went under 3-0 at Ifield Edwards, while Buxted were beaten 4-2 at Lower Beeding & Nuthurst, with Kevin McDougall and Martin Penfold their scorers.

Nick Emmerson hit a hat-trick as Old Varndeanians took a three-point lead at the head of the Mid-Sussex Premier League with a 7-0 win at Lindfield while Balcombe are in second following a 2-1 victory over Hassocks III.

In division one Barcombe crashed to a 7-3 defeat at home to Turners Hill, Broadway (two) and Stoner scoring for the hosts.

Harland (two) and Bassett scored in Plumpton Athletic's 3-1 win over Uckfield Town II, for whom Watson netted, while Hudson and Prickett were on target for Village of Ditchling in a 5-2 home defeat by Heath Pilgrims.

In division four Ransom scored four times and Booth once as Chailey beat Wealden III 5-3, Lewis (two) and Robson scoring the host's goals. Dormansland Rockets and AFC Ringmer drew 2-2. Chris Callow put AFC clear with a first-half brace, but the Rockets struck back twice through Twinn and Coster in a physical second 45 to end Ringmer's 100 per cent record.

Familiar names got on the scoresheet as Seaford Crown beat Elephant & Castle 4-2 in the premier division of the Lewes and District Sunday League. Ben Dartnell scored two and Adam and Duncan Kneller one each for Crown while Paul Copard and Ben Elsey got the Castle goals.

Ryan Walton netted his second hat-trick in successive weeks in Jolly Boatman's 3-1 win over Eagle PH while Russell Anderson, Luke Turner and Carl Berwick were on target for Jarvis Brook in a 3-0 win over Newhaven Railway Club.

Beach Tavern stayed top of the table with a 5-1 victory over Corn Exchange Rangers.

In Division One Luke Martin netted three for Jolly Boatman II in a 7-0 win over Newhaven Con Club, while John Snelgrove scored seven as Seaford Cinque Ports thrashed Engineer 18-0.

In Division Two Adam Bishop grabbed a hat-trick in Peacehaven Acad's 3-3 draw with Eastbourne Albion, Rob Dye scored three in Anchor's 8-2 win over Martello Inn, Val Cheang bagged three in Sporting Thistle's 9-2 win over Ocean Wave and J Penn netted four in Picross Barley Mow's 5-3 win at Kingston Village.
