Trott has pro aims

ANGMERING Tennis Club's Sara Trott is hoping to make it as a professional after getting her first taste of Wimbledon action.

Trott competed in the Under-14 Road To Wimbledon challenge, reaching the last 32, and local pro, Martin Lee, who is ranked 218 in the world, has devised a fitness programme for her.

Trott, 14, said: "I've always wanted to be a pro and that's still my aim. I'm ranked in the top 120 Under-14s in Britain and want to reach the top 80 by the end of the year. I finish school in two years and hopefully I'll be travelling around the world for competitions then.

"If not, I'll look to get into an academy in Spain or maybe go to Bath University, where they do tennis degrees.

"At my age until you are 16 is when it is really hard. People drop out of the game because they find it so tough. I know it's going to get harder but when you start playing in all the big competitions, it gets a bit easier."
