United players face a beating - from their manager!

BEXHILL United manager Len Watkins says he might resort to beating his players up if they do not start getting results.

The team travel to Upper Beeding tomorrow (Saturday) in the first round of the Sussex League Division Three cup on the back of five straight defeats.

The poor run of results has caused Watkins to think of alternative methods to get his players performing. He explained: "We only seem to play well when the players are wound up about something. We don't start matches well and seem to only wake up in the second half so we need to start games more aggressively. Maybe I should beat them up before the game to get them fired up a bit so they go out there and take no prisoners."

Watkins is thinking of recruiting former boxer and now club Chairman Dave Harris to give him a helping hand. "I'm thinking of asking Dave to bring his boxing pads into the changing room before matches", he said. "We need something to get the players performing the way they can."

United go into the game confident as their only win so far this campaign came in a 4-0 rout at Upper Beeding earlier in the season. Andy Copley is out with a foot injury.
