It’s the third year Fontwell has staged a Hunter Chase fixture and although the weather was a let-down, officials can be pleased to have had more than 70 runners across the seven races.

Hunter chases are open only to horses that have hunter certificates. Hunter certificates are issued to horses that have hunted for at least four days in the season before racing starts in January. In addition, the jockey must be an amateur who has obtained a certificate from the hunt secretary.

Next up at Fontwell it’s the bank holiday family fun day on Sunday, May 24.
