Video: West Sussex rider Gemma heads to European Championships

Gemma Tattersall from Horsham, West Sussex this year has had her first call up to represent Great Britain in Eventing at Senior level later this week at the Longines FEI European Eventing Championships in Blair Castle, Scotland (10-13 September 2015).

The 30 year old rider will be contesting the home European Championships with Arctic Soul, who is owned by Gemma as well as the Soul Syndicate. Arctic Soul is known as ‘Spike’ to his friends.

We recently caught up with Gemma to hear what the sport of Eventing means to her as well as her thoughts ahead of the first Senior level Eventing Championship ever to be held in Scotland.

Gemma forms part of a squad of 12 horse and rider combinations who will represent GBR this week at Blair. She is one of five athletes making their senior team debuts, whilst four of those selected have previously competed at a home Europeans, after riding at Blenheim in 2005.

Part of UK Sport’s National Lottery funded #EveryRoadtoRio series, supporting British athletes’ preparation and qualification for Rio 2016, this summer’s event is the last major Championship before the Olympic Games, where GBR will be represented having already qualified a team spot after the World Equestrian Games last year.
