Watkins has faith in high-fliers

BEXHILL United boss Len Watkins believes his ever-improving side can keep pace with the Sussex Division Three front-runners.

United moved up to fourth place on the back of a 5-0 thrashing away to rock-bottom Bosham last weekend.

Watkins said: "The squad now is settled and good enough to maintain our position. We have beaten all the bottom sides, now it's time to start going out and knocking the top sides off their perches. It's down to us."

The next challenge for United, who have won seven of their last 12 games, is a trip to a faltering Ifield outfit on Saturday January 25.

Watkins admitted: "I don't know anything about them at all but they will be a much stronger test (than Bosham). We have got to sharpen our game up but there's no reason to think we can't beat them."
