Wick blow their chance

WICK Football Club crashed out of the FA Cup with a 3-0 replay defeat at Chertsey Town on Tuesday after blowing a two-goal lead in the last five minutes at home.

Wick led 2-0 on Saturday when the linesman signalled for a penalty after he adjudged a Wick player had pulled back a Chertsey forward on 85 minutes.

From that, they scored then netted an equaliser four minutes into injury-time with a free header from a corner.

Dominic Shepherd hit Wick's opener on 44 minutes after Owen Elias' free kick came back off the bar.

Shepherd then doubled the lead with a penalty on 78 minutes after Tom Manton had been brought down.

But on Tuesday, Wick fell behind to a scrappy goal early on before they had two penalty appeals waved away when Gareth Green then Scott Murfin went down.

Scott Murfin also forced a wonder save from Chertsey's keeper before it became 2-0 with 10 minutes left and after Adam Hunt was red-carded for a foul, Chertsey added a late third.
