Winning streak continues

LAST season, West Sussex rider Kathleen Botting achieved a 30-year ambition when she qualified for the Horse of the Year Show with her new horse Bristol Blue.

Since then, she and the eight-year-old coloured gelding, known affectionately as Harvey, have gone from strength to strength, finishing the season with an excellent third place at the Horse of the Year show in Birmingham.

The duo has had an outstanding season so far in 2009, having qualified for the Royal International Horse Show, which opens at Hickstead this week, in three different classes.

They will be competing in the lightweight cob, side saddle and BPSPA Coloured championships.

"He really is a superstar and such a lovely horse. To qualify at all for the Royal International Horse Show is a real achievement, but to do it three times over in different categories is amazing.

"Harvey is such a versatile performer and he gives his best whether he is competing in sidesaddle, riding classes or dressage, which we have just started succesfully," she said.
