WORTHING BUMPED OFF

"WE ALL wanted to win the trophy because it's our Worthing club centenary year. It was just a shame to lose after we played so well to win at East Sussex National in the previous round."

Worthing Golf Club captain Scott Williams put a brave and honourable face on a defeat in which his side sensed that fate and the law of averages had agreed a deal.

He added: "We being drawn at Willingdon for a fourth time in five years and having never lost yet, the odds were that they were going to beat us soon in their own back yard '” it's just a pity we can't play them at home once in a while."
