Would Jose Mourinho be as good a manager at Newport County?

It looks like it's Klopp for the Kop, Bob (Bradley) to build something at the Stadium of Light, and Pressley is entering the building at Fleetwood.

It may well change between writing and publication. But there is movement in the market, that's for sure.

Sometimes a change in manager can overshadow what happens on the pitch. This week Brendan Rogers's departure at Anfield filled the national column inches and relegated Arsenal's impressive 3-0 win against Manchester United to the foot of the page in many newspapers.

Consistency in the dugout doesn't always guarantee success - maybe Arsenal fans will feel that way. And, sometimes, a long-term view is necessary to overcome persistent challenges - Exeter fans may feel that way.

Sometimes managers just seem to fit with a club. Whether Arsene Wenger or Paul Tisdale fit with their clubs "like Ant and Dec" is up for debate. But Eddie Howe is relishing his role back at AFC Bournemouth and Karl Robinson has finally found success after five years of planning at MK Dons.

In terms of the numbers, Chris Hughton is (currently) number 54 in the current list of longest-serving managers in English football and 16th in the Championship. And he's been in the job for barely 10 months.

Some supporters expressed concerns over the style of football they could expect when he arrived, but - with a pre-season under his belt - fans have been served up a decent menu of football so far. It's not always a simple equation. Good results = manager is a hero; bad results = manager is clueless.

Managers are in the firing line, but it's also about the whole management team, recruitment structure, support staff, and, of course, the players.

Would Jose Mourinho be as good a manager at Newport County? Would Jim Bentley be able to swap Morecambe for Manchester United? Of course, we will never know - but it would be fun to find out.

What I do know is that the Seagulls are currently in good hands, on and off the pitch. It's been only 279 days, but Hughton and his methodical methods appear to have given them a chance of promotion. Let's hope in another 211 days he will have completed the job.

On the current tally, that would take him to 37th in the longest-serving table. If they do go up, he will probably be viewed by all Albion fans as their special one.
