WRITE-OFF AT REDHILL

REDHILL rejoiced at their best team performance of the season; United wrote the day off, having gone into the game without a dozen main names on Saturday.

While Ben Biggar (22min and 62) Luke Jones (39) and Steve Jenns (76) celebtrated their goals, United boss Ian Browne was philosophical that the closest his team went to scoring was the double save by the Redhill keeper in the 85th minute:

"We tried to play but it was a step up for any players. We've a big enough squad to field two sides but we're not competitive enough in this division with that many out.

"When we did work it about, Redhill looked fragile and worried and I think we'd have dominated them with a full-strength side."

Missing were Steve Pickles, Paul Brown, Lee Bone, Paul Rapps, Neil and Jo Shelley, Seb Di Paola, Jordan Rhodes, Shane Moses, Mike McCaffrey, Colin Moss and Peter Montgomery '” all either injured, sick or unavailable.

UNITED: Fuller; Footman, O'Sullivan, Keech, Lewis; Page, Webb, Mayman, Sell; Schneider, Banks. Subs: D. Di Paola (Lewis 62), Texiteira (Page 70). Att: 96.

Browne expected this week to sign full-back Mark Aylett from Peacehaven ahead of United's visit to Southwick on Monday. And he declared he had no worries about his team over-indulging in Christmas before this testing game:

"It's their responsibility to prepare themselves mentally and physically. I know they will. They're adults and they know how I feel about that."
