Young Chichester athletes making great strides - literally

Three of Chichester's leading juniors in the Corporate Challenge series have been on national cross-country duty for Sussex.

Top placing overall has been from Harry Leleu, who placed a magnificent 23rd in the English schools event at Nottingham.

Running in the junior age group, Leleu, who had broken the Year 9 Corporate Challenge course record the previous Wednesday, had the honour of being the first Sussex runner home.

Such was the closeness of the competition that he was less the ten seconds outside the top ten.

In the same event but in the intermediate age group, Georgina Warner again demonstrated the enormous strides she has made this season in 47th place. She was second Sussex runner home behind champion Grace Baker (Hastings).

The Chichester pair have another year in the age group, as does James McKenzie, who was delighted with 62nd in the same age group.
