Young tennis stars serve up a county title for Chichester
Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club's under-12 boys' tennis team ended a hard-fought campaign in the AEGON Team Tennis Sussex division-one as champions.
After cruising to a comfortable lead in their early matches the team - comprising Mathew Spencer, William Gaynor, Sam Ellison and Julian Standish - had to produce their best tennis to overcome favourites Eastbourne Sports Park.
With the teams tied on three wins each the result was decided by a nail-biting doubles championship tie-break. Spencer and Standish played with maturity and great confidence to seal the win 10-4.
The final fixture against West Worthing completed a clean sweep of victories, earning the Chichester quartet the title of county champions.
