Evening concerts resume at Eastbourne Bandstand

Eastbourne Bandstand reopens with a packed programme of popular tribute shows and concerts for the spring and summer.

Concerts have been held in the Winter Garden while essential repairs were carried out at the seafront landmark. With the latest phase of refurbishment completed, the Bandstand reopened on April 23 with a free afternoon concert featuring Eastbourne Silver Band. Evening concerts are back from Friday, April 28 and the season kicks off with a Queen Tribute Show.

Spokeswoman Tracey Drake said: “Pure Queen, one of the UK’s leading tribute bands, will take to the stage for a performance featuring some of the legendary band’s top hits.

“The song list includes We Will Rock You, I Want to Break Free, Radio Gaga, Bohemian Rhapsody and many more in an explosive performance guaranteed to leave audiences rocking in their seats. The band’s lead singer Mark Sanders has been captivating audiences all over the world with his breath-taking tribute to Freddie Mercury and Queen and is acclaimed for recreating the very essence of the late performer’s stage charisma.

“Performing on BBC1’s tribute show Even Better Than the Real Thing with Paddy McGuinness, Mark has sung for many celebrities including pop producer Mark Ronson and Freddie Mercury’s long-time friend and partner Mary Austin, as well as supporting the likes of Suzi Quatro and The Real Thing.

“The music continues throughout the weekend with the Bruno Mars Tribute Show on Saturday, April 29. Jeff Dingle, as Bruno Mars, looks like him, sounds like him and has the moves to match and will perform many of Bruno's greatest hits including Up Town Funk, Locked Out of Heaven, When I Was Your Man, Just the Way You Are, Grenade and lots more. Jeff is a world renowned tribute star and a winner at the National Tribute Awards. Jeff has performed around the world, appearing in American Idol and competing against the world’s finest tribute acts in BBC’s Even Better Than the Real Thing. Upcoming tribute shows planned for the summer include Pink, The Eagles, Rolling Stones, Buddy Holly, ABBA, and Ed Sheeran. Tribute tickets cost £11 for adults in advance (child £9) and doors and bars open at 7pm for 8pm performances.

1812 Fireworks & Proms concerts kick off the mid-week season with a bang as Sussex Brass bring an evening of concert music on Wednesday, May 3, culminating in triumphant Proms favourites and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture, accompanied by a spectacular firework display.

Upcoming 1812 concerts each Wednesday evening include Eastbourne Silver Band, Brighton & Hove City Brass, Crawley Millennium Concert Band and Wealden Brass. 1812 tickets cost £8.50 for adults in advance (child £6.25) and doors open and bars open 7.30pm for 8pm performances.
