CHURCH EVENT: Prayer day at St Michael and All Angels', Lancing

A DAY of prayer for Lancing will be held at the village's St Michael and All Angels' Church, on Saturday, June 14.

The event provides the opportunity for people to visit the church, in South Street, Lancing, which will be open from 10am, and to spend time in prayer for the needs of the community.

The theme for the day is focusing on the needs of local schools and young people, and at noon speaker Anton Green will give a talk on children and family centres and plans for Lancing.

Mr Green is based at the new Lancing Children and Family Centre, at Freshbrook First School.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day with lunch served from noon.

Father Barry Carter said: "Our days of prayer for the community are now a regular feature of our church's calendar.

"They offer us an opportunity to spend time focusing on a particular topic of need for our community and we look forward to welcoming Anton Green and hearing more about the children and family centre."
