Kicking off Noisy Sounds

HELLO and welcome to a new live music column we will be running every week in the Herald and Gazette series of papers.

To kick us off, allow me to humbly introduce you to the absolutely incredible band I play in, Sandweaver.

Sandweaver is an all-original indie rock band from Worthing formed in 2003. Our influences are Jeff Buckley, Coldplay, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Muse and PJ Harvey, to name but a few.

We started life when songwriter Matt Sweet, 27, met Johnny Stubbs ,23, and John Hickling, 23, both recent graduates from the Brighton Institute of Modern Music.

I joined the band in 2004 and since then the line-up has remained the same.

We have played all over Sussex and London, at various bars, clubs and universities, but the best gig so far would have to be when we supported Texas at Arundel Castle in front of a 4,500-strong crowd last August.

Nothing quite beats the feeling of seeing that many people listening to your music!

We're currently in the studios recording our first album, but if you do want to see us live, our next confirmed gigs are at the Battle of the Bands, being held at the Joogleberry Playhouse, Manchester Street, Brighton, on March 12, and then the Royal Pavilion Tavern, Brighton, on March 22.

You can also hear our music on www.myspace.com/sandweavertheband or www.sandweaver.co.uk

Enough about us, though.

We want all local musicians, bands, songwriters, promoters, music nights and venues out there to get in touch so we can try and get you featured in future columns.

We know you're out there!

Let us know about what you've been up to and give us the details of any gigs you have coming up by emailing [email protected] (this will open your email program) or get in touch through myspace at www.myspace.com/noisysounds
