Tom Pople, bass guitarist, said: "We're all really excited with our signing to Open Times.

"We've worked really hard over the last few years getting these songs written and recorded and we're now looking forward to working with Pete and Open Times to get these songs out to a worldwide audience."

Pete, from Hove, set up Open Times last year. Prior to that, he held senior positions with major music companies including ATV Music Publishing, CBS Songs, SBK Songs, EMI Music Publishing, and Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

During a career in the industry spanning more than 30 years, Pete has worked on the song catalogues of some of the most famous artists and songwriters in the world.

They include The Beatles, Oasis, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, The Manic Street Preachers, Travis, A-Ha, The Fugees, Sade and Leonard Cohen.

Pete said: "Open Times Music have a wealth of experience in the music publishing business, and we are looking to sign other good-quality, local songwriters, following our deal with Sandweaver, and our first signings Superlungs, another excellent young Sussex band.

"Sandweaver are a very talented band of songwriters, who have established a strong local following which will undoubtedly grow in 2009.

"Following the excellence of their debut album in 2008, we are excited about the prospect of hearing the new material which they are working on this year and we believe that Sandweaver have a very bright future indeed."

Previously, Sandweaver got to the final of the Live and Unsigned competition, but narrowly missed out on first place.

They have also supported Texas at Arundel Castle and have played at venues across the south.
