Sunflower event at Bignor

Families have been flocking to the Bignor Sunflower Maze and Picking Patch when has made a return this year.

A dedicated picking patch has been created at the site at Bignor Roman Villa for those visitors who wish to take home a little bit of sunshine from their day.

The special sunflower maze has also proved to be hugely popular with visitors and there is also a trail for younger visitors to help guide them around the maze whilst learning about Bees.

A wristband system is in operation for visitors costing £6 per person with under 5's free and sunflowers charged at £1 per stem. Parking is free.

Weather-permitting the maze and picking fields will be open daily from 10am to 4pm until August 29.

Tickets are available at the Roman Villa Ticket Office and does not include admittance to the Villa itself.

Organiser of the event, Lisa Tupper said: “Despite the hot, dry weather the sunflowers have coped really well. It is so rewarding to see something you have nurtured from seed grow into such a thing of beauty”.

It is also hosting a special ‘Sunset in the Sunflowers’ event on August 20 where it will be open in the evening from 6pm to 9pm. Details on 01798 869259.
