Hastings Borough Council wants to understand the level of demand for sports pitch provision, the types of organisations interested in using the site, and the potential for community-led management or development opportunities. The council is working on a longer-term strategy for the site and wants information to help decision making over the next three to ten years.

The site has traditionally been used for football and cricket, but expressions are welcomed and encouraged from all sports. Groups wanting to arrange a site visit are invited to get in touch so this can be arranged.

Cllr Glenn Haffenden, leader of the council and lead councillor for sport and leisure, said: “We want to bring the pitches at Sandhurst Recreation Ground back into regular use to provide better sports and leisure opportunities for Hastings’ residents. Sport and leisure play a vital role in improving wellbeing and we recognise the importance of using all the facilities we have.

“We are keen to hear from a wide range of sports groups, especially those delivering wider community benefits, so please read the full information available online and share your thoughts and plans.”

Full details of the information that should be submitted is available on our website.: https://www.hastings.gov.uk/sport_play/sandhurst-eoi/The closing date for submissions is Friday 8 January 2027.
