On Thursday 11 June, from 2pm to just after 4pm, Green Willow Residential Home will once again open its doors and invite local friends, families and neighbours to join residents for its annual Jazz in the Garden event.

Held as part of the much-loved East Preston Festival, now celebrating its 45th year, the afternoon will bring together live jazz, cream teas, Pimm’s, local stalls and the simple pleasure of spending time together in the home’s beautiful gardens.

Visitors are warmly invited to bring a chair, find a sunny spot and settle in for an afternoon of music and conversation with residents, relatives, team members and the wider village community. The main raffle will be called at around 3.45pm.

For many residents, being part of village life means a great deal. Events like Jazz in the Garden help keep those local connections alive, creating the kind of afternoon where neighbours pop in, families stay a little longer, and residents can enjoy welcoming people into their home.

Guests will also be able to see what residents have been growing in Green Willow’s vegetable patch and raised planters, as well as the home’s three scarecrows, lovingly created by residents for the East Preston Festival Scarecrow Competition, where they won third place.

Amy-Louise Lee, Registered Manager at Green Willow Residential Home, said:

“Jazz in the Garden is one of those afternoons our residents really look forward to. There’s something very special about seeing the garden full of people, hearing the music playing and watching residents chatting with friends, relatives and people from the village.

“We are very proud to be part of the East Preston community, and we love opening our doors for events like this. It gives people a chance to spend time with us in a relaxed, happy way and see a little of life at Green Willow.

“If you didn’t get the chance to visit us during Open Gardens, we’d love you to come along, bring a chair and enjoy the afternoon with us.”

Jazz in the Garden will take place at Green Willow Residential Home, 23 Vicarage Lane, East Preston, West Sussex, BN16 2SP.

Green Willow Residential Home regularly takes part in local events and enjoys creating opportunities for residents to stay connected with the people, places and traditions that matter to them.
