On Wednesday 11th November, from 10am–11am and every second Wednesday of each month, Care UK’s Bowes House, on Battle Road, will be hosting a support group in partnership with Blind Veterans UK in its café, providing a welcoming space for local veterans to connect.

Blind Veterans UK helps vision-impaired ex-servicemen and women to rebuild their lives after sight loss, supporting blind veterans to regain their independence and live the life they choose.

On the day, guests will have the opportunity to chat with residents, sharing their stories and memories of their younger days, all while enjoying a hot drink and tasty treats specially made by the home’s talented head chef.

Finlin Martin, Home Manager at Bowes House, said: “We’re looking forward to hosting the Blind Veterans UK here in our café as a regular space for friendship and support.

“It’s incredibly important to us that members of the Armed Forces community feel recognised and appreciated, and this event is a wonderful opportunity for us to express our gratitude to those who have served, including residents within our home. We’re proud to create a welcoming space where people can share stories, enjoy good company, and connect with others, especially those who may not always have someone to talk to.

“We’re really looking forward to bringing everyone together to make new friendships and honour the remarkable individuals who have served our country.” .
