Haywards Heath opticians thank local community for generous foodbank donations

A delighted food bank serving the Haywards Heath community has joined forces with their local Specsavers to help boost donations.

Nearly two hundred items have been collected so far for Bentswood Hub, a charity offering emotional and practical support through a range of activities and sessions including a community larder. With increasing needs in the local area, Specsavers Haywards Heath has been inviting customers to leave an item if they can for the community larder.

Anna Sharkey, Bentswood Hub C.I.C. Director and CEO says: ‘We are so grateful for the support we receive from the local Specsavers store, as an independent organisation that is not government funded, we really do rely on the support we receive from local businesses and the community to be able to deliver our services.

Rachna Patel, Jay Spiller directors at Haywards Heath Specsavers say: ‘We’d like to thank everyone who has donated an item so far and we continue to be on hand to receive anything you are in a position to give. We started the donations several weeks ago after reaching out to the local foodbank who were happy to give details of their most in demand items. The response from customers old and new has been overwhelmingly positive.

Rachna adds: ‘We plan to continue collecting donations because, as a locally run and owned business, we believe in the power of community and want to do our part to support those who are struggling. By working together, we hope we can do our bit to help ensure that everyone has access to nutritious food.’
