From the famous start lines in Greenwich, through the electric roar of Tower Bridge, past the historic landmarks of the city and all the way to the grand finish on The Mall beside Buckingham Palace, every mile delivered magic, emotion and memories to last a lifetime.

For some, it was their very first marathon experience, months of early mornings, long runs, sacrifices and determination finally leading to that moment on the start line. For others, it was another proud return to the streets of London, proving once again that the marathon never loses its ability to inspire, challenge and humble.

Every Harrier wore the famous black and red vest with pride, carrying not only their own goals and ambitions, but the support of the entire club with them every step of the way.

Among the most special stories of the day was club legend Lady Frances Delves, who completed her incredible 20th London Marathon, a milestone that deserves enormous admiration and celebration.

Twenty London Marathons is far more than a number. It represents decades of commitment, consistency, resilience and passion for running. It tells the story of countless winter training nights, early alarms, long Sunday miles, race day nerves and that unwavering determination to keep showing up year after year.

Lady Delves is not only a remarkable runner but a hugely respected and much-loved part of Hailsham Harriers, a member since the club’s founding in 1984.  She represents so much of what Hailsham Harriers stands for, dedication, loyalty, humility and the simple joy of running.  Her contribution to the black and red stretches far beyond race results, inspiring generations of Harriers both old and new.

To reach twenty London Marathons is extraordinary, it is a truly special achievement and one that reflects the heart and spirit of Hailsham Harriers itself.

The 2026 race also made headlines on the elite stage, adding even more excitement to an already unforgettable day, as the men’s race produced historic performances and a thrilling spectacle for runners and spectators alike.

Whether chasing personal bests, running for charity, ticking off a lifelong dream or simply embracing the once-in-a-lifetime experience of marathon day, every Harrier on that start line was an inspiration.

A huge congratulations to all of our London Marathon runners. To reach that finish line is something truly special.

Away from the city crowds, the Chase Trail Marathon set within the stunning Cranborne Chase near the Hampshire and Wiltshire borders, delivered a completely different challenge, tough trails, rolling hills, open countryside and the beautiful Wimborne St Giles Estate.

Claire Keith embraced every muddy mile, tackling steep ascents, technical terrain and testing conditions with determination and smiles. Trail running demands patience, and strength, and she once again showed all three in abundance, returning for the second year to finish first female and retain her crown in 3:28:26 placing 3rd overall.

Further afield, two Harriers, Fay Stevensova and Mick Pasqua took on the Europa Half Marathon and 10K in Aviero, Portugal, combining racing with adventure on the international stage.

Running abroad always brings its own unique excitement, new scenery, new crowds and a completely different race-day atmosphere but the Harriers spirit travels well, and our runners represented the club superbly with a strong and determined performance over both distances.  Fay who ran in the half marathon finished in an impressive 2:28:55 whilst Mick crossed the line in a superb personal best time of 1:16:14.

From London vibes to woodland trails and European roads, this weekend perfectly showcased what Hailsham Harriers is all about, courage, commitment, friendship and community.

Chairman Andy Ruffell said:  “To see our members taking on such varied challenges and representing the club with such pride is incredibly special. Whether it’s London, the trails, or racing abroad, every single runner inspires others in our club. We are hugely proud of them all.”

Another huge weekend for Team Black & Red and plenty more memories made.
